Donors have helped lift both the body and spirit of one of our clients who experienced a permanent spinal cord injury, following a fall at home.
His condition was complicated by significant whole body spasms, impacting on his posture and seating. He therefore required assistance with all aspects of daily care including showering, dressing, bladder and bowel care, transfers, eating and home maintenance. His bedroom had limited space so a ceiling hoist was the best fit.
One of our occupational therapists was successful in receiving funding from our Foundation for an Active Mobility ceiling hoist to be installed into his bedroom. This meant he could return to his own home and continue living with his wife and children.
The other good news is this client has progressed to driving his power wheelchair independently via chin control!
