"Stevens Semillon comes from Neil Stevens’ Glen Oak vineyard on Marrowbone Road, our southern-most Semillon vineyard, which features a combination of light, sandy loams and darker, heavier transitional soils. The oldest plantings on this vineyard are from 1911.
Vintage 2018 was a strong Semillon vintage in the Hunter Valley. Dry, warm conditions that were similar to 2003 meant cropping levels were smaller than average and produced wines of great concentration and length of flavour.
Stevens Semillon is almost always the first Semillon vineyard that Tyrrells pick, and this year was no different, taking place on 17 and 18 January with a machine harvester in the early hours of the morning. The grapes were then pressed lightly, and the free-run juice was used for fermentation at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The wine stayed in these tanks until bottling in June." This has immaculately fresh lemon and lemon-blossom aromas with lemon-peel notes, too. The palate has a very intense, rich and ripe feel with succulently fleshy lemon flavors. Drink or hold. Screw cap. (Nov 2020)

Very tight and refined white with wonderful finesse and density, in a compact and beautiful way. Cooked-apple, lemon-rind and some stone and lemon-curd character. Medium body. Creamy and beautiful. Excellent this year. Drink now or hold. (Jun 2019)
